November 15, 2025      pm 62 degrees F,  Overcast with a slight breeze Sunrise 7:36am--->Sunset 5:21pm Length of Day: 9 hours and 45 minutes Senses Felt - Today I noticed that the temperature felt surprisingly warmer than I expected. The last few days have started to warm up again. The breeze was warm as well even though you couldn't see the sun shining. Heard - The creek was still burbling just like last time. This time I could hear the trees groaning when the wind picked up and their branches scraping against each other. Saw - The fungi that I saw last time was not there this time. I saw a bird fly overhead but didnt have time to identify it. All the trees were bare and very few smaller plants had leaves left. There were some branches on the ground that had been knocked off by the wind. The vegetation and grass however, as you can see in the North picture, were still quite green compared to everything around them. I could see the trees swaying in the wind. Thoug...

October 24, 2025    3:30  pm 48 degrees F, Overcast with slight breeze Sunrise 8:08am--->Sunset 6:48pm Length of Day: 10 hours and 40 minutes Senses Felt - Today I noticed and felt that it was even cooler than last time, the temperature was lower. There was a slight breeze but other than that is was very still. You could almost feel the stillness, there werent animals scurrying around like other times. Heard - I could hear the rustling leaves at my plot. The creek was burbling and very few insects chirping. I think that they were crickets. I also heard a plane fly by over head once. Saw - Today at my plot I saw that the creek had a higher water level than before. This was due to all that rain we got last week. There were bubbles in the stream because of the rocks. October 11, 2025    3:00  pm 58 degrees F, Overcast with no breeze Sunrise 7:53am--->Sunset 7:09pm Length of Day: 11 hours and 44 minutes Senses Felt - The air was cooler and it was starting to feel more like fall. The water in the stream was getting colder as well. Heard - I could hear cicadas and grasshoppers like other times. There was a dog barking in the distance, probably somebody taking it for a walk in the park. When I was close I could hear the stream flowing but it was kind of quiet. I heard some birds chirping and chipmunks scurrying. Overall it was a little bit quieter and felt less active from the other times. Saw - I saw a few birds, one I am pretty sure was the same kind of woodpecker I saw on my first field study. Also noticed that there were a lot more leaves on the ground since last time. I saw the creek moving slowly. The plants seemed a little less green, very few plants had flowers with color. Thoughts - I wondered as I thought about stewardsh...

September 19, 2025    4:00pm 86 degrees F, Sunny with a light breeze Sunrise 7:28am--->Sunset 7:46pm Length of Day: 12 hours and 18 minutes Senses Felt - I felt the sun coming down. It was pretty warm today. There was a breeze that picked up every once in a while. Heard - I could hear crickets and cicadas buzzing. I could hear one bird that kept squawking for almost the whole time I was there. There were some other birds that would chirp a few times then fly away. I heard the trees blowing in the wind when it started moving. I heard leaves crunching under my feet when I walked around. Also I heard somebody's pet dog bark twice in the distance. Saw - I saw a lot of plants that were still green. A few flowers still had color, but most that had color last time were dead now. I saw some trees start to change colors and quite a few leaves on the ground. I saw some yellow leaves and some really pretty red leaves from an oak. August 29, 2025    2:30pm 65 degrees F, Sunny with a light breeze Sunrise 7:05am--->Sunset 8:24pm Length of Day: 13 hours and 19 minutes EDD Link Senses Felt - The soft pedals on the flowers. I also felt a light breeze and the rays of sun coming through the trees. Heard - I could hear cicadas buzzing and crickets chirping continuously. When the wind picked up leaves rustled in the trees. I heard a tap-tap-tap, I looked up, and there was a Downy Woodpecker knocking on a tree. I could also hear some other birds chirping. Saw - I saw a Downy Woodpecker, just 15 feet above me just pecking away at the tree. I also saw a female cardinal and a Goldfinch. There were a few bunches of red berries. I saw a few purple wildflowers, lots of glowing yellow goldenrod, and some bright white fleabane. A butterfly flew through the area and a white cabbage moth.
